Habits

I am your constant companion.

I am your greatest asset or heaviest burden.

I will push you up to success or down to disappointment.

I am at your command.

Half the things you do might just as well be turned over to me,

For I can do them quickly, correctly, and profitably.

I am easily managed, just be firm with me.

Those who are great, I have made great.

Those who are failures, I have made failures.

I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a machine and the intelligence of a person.

You can run me for profit, or you can run me for ruin.

Show me how you want it done. Educate me. Train me.

Lead me. Reward me.

And I will then...do it automatically.

I am your servant.

Who am I?

I am a habit.

WOW..This really made me ponder what habits I have that build me up and which ones tear me down. I am making a list. I want to conquer my bad habits before they conquer me.

Share some of your habit with me and be entered into a drawing for a beautiful journal that will be awarded on February 1st.

For Those of you following along in The Purpose Driven Life please read chapters 6 and 7 on www.thepurposedrivenlife.com and post your thoughts on the last two chapters on this site and be entered in the last drawing for the book The Purpose Driven Life to be held on Friday.

  1. Sharing habits:

Before I go to bed at night, I walk through the house and fluff up pillows, put glasses in the dishwasher, and tidy up. That way everything is fresh and neat when I wake up in the morning.

I always say good-nite to my sons (away at university) by sending them a text message or email, telling them I love them and sweet dreams. Often they aren't there, but get the message when they return from studying.

I make my bed first thing when I get up in the morning (this habit was NOT one I was born with! LOL!).

PS: Enjoy a happy day, Susan. I hope all is well with you and Skip.

  2. Susan, I like stopping here to "see" you each day--brings me much comfort! And, I'm meeting new lady friends! Alas, a habit--when I have a chance to be on our computer, I #1-check email, #2-come to your blog, #3-check CNN website for news headlines, #4-send any emails I owe. Seems always in that order (habit)--morning or night.

Another habit: I check the 2 doors to the house 2 times before bed to be sure they are locked (I am alone a lot).

2 habits I'm working on breaking: 1) NOT always cleansing my face before I go to bed 2) "a biggie" (maybe not a habit? but feels like it)--allowing other people to define me!!! This is where my "Year of Gentleness" comes in....reminds me to SLOW DOWN and be the real ME!

Thanks for always loving that ME! Hug to Skip!!!
