Finish this setence.

The rest of this week we will be finishing sentences that will help us rediscover the passions that we have in life. For example, our question today is When I was a child I wanted to be _________ when I grew up. Many of us grew up to thrive in the occupation we had chosen so this will not be a revelation to you. There are those, like myself, that did not and just by going back and remembering what I was once passionate about has reignited the passion I once felt.

When I was a child I wanted to be a photo journalist when I grew up. So I am reclaiming that dream and am submitting articles to magazines this year. I adore photography and have been living that dream for a while now but am ready to learn more to take me to the next level there as well.

What did you want to be when you grew up? How do you feel about that today?

All that answer will be entered into the drawing for Out of Bounds..scrapbooking without boundaries (pictured in a previous post).

  1. I wanted to be a vet - but now I know I'd never be able to put down a sick animal.

  2. First, I wanted to be a cowgirl married to Dale Evans and ride Trigger. I had to scratch that idea. Then I wanted to be a veterinarian because I loved animals, but that was not my calling. Then I wanted to be a sociologist to help people, but never could have worked with the government system. What I finally learned was that I loved being a stay at home mom. Now I enjoy teaching adult Bible study and helping women. I am comfortable in my niche for this season and know I am where I belong. The challenge is to not let the world voices confuse me.

    Happy Birthday dear friend!
    Love, Lallee

  3. When I was little, I wanted to be an office worker or a teacher. I did the office worker gig for 25 years, and I really did enjoy it. For the last four years Ive been doing the teacher gig, for only 1-4 students, but still, and I am enjoying that for the most part too! Good for you for pursuing your photojournalism dreams!

  4. When I was little all I wanted to be was a mother. My dream came true! Now...all I want to be is a grandmother, we'll see if it comes true or not but I'm hopeful!

  5. When I was 3 yrs. old, I wanted to be a prima ballerina when I grew up. I think because I loved (even at that age) the music, beauty, and grace. However, after a trauma, I decided at age 4, I wanted to be a concert pianist. I didn't know the word, but I could point to one on TV and tell my parents, "That's what I'm going to do when I grow up!" From the age of 5-22, EVERYTHING I did was with that in mind! Then, another life-changing event....and I taught public school vocal music for 15 yrs. and NOW, am blessed to teach private piano students..age 6-adults!!! I now realize it is what God wanted for me all along. God answers all prayer....just not always in MY way or MY time! Ha.

    I LOVE your tea cup!
