Memorial Day Plans??

Our Memorial Day is full this year. We are starting out attending the annual Firefighters for a cure breakfast at our local station, then off to our local parade and at 12:45 we will attend the ground breaking of the new VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK. After all, that is what memorial day is all about. Remembering and honoring those who have served our country so that we can live in freedom. Thank you from my heart to all of you that have served or who have served here at home while a loved one is deployed.

We will have our children over for a cookout later in the afternoon. We will praise God for our freedom .

We will resume the featured blog of the day on Tuesday.
I will be featuring a new blog that I think you will LOVE each day here AND on YOUR LIFE SPELLED OUT at http://yourlifespelledout.blogspot.com/ . Would you like to share your blog with others? Post a comment with your blog address and I will stop by.

Would you like to have YOUR BLOG featured? If so drop me a comment and give me the address of your blog and I will come for a visit.

Spent!

Do you ever feel like you are just spent? That there is really nothing left to give? The idea of a bath and night in bed sounds far more wonderful than than dinner out at the elegant restaurant? ME TOO! As a matter of fact I have found myself there today. I am going to take it easy today (the only day out of the Holiday weekend that I can)..This is a choice. I choose to let everything else go and rest. It will all be there on Sunday. This is growth for me. I don't know about you but I am usually the last person that I take care of. So today I will take care of me. What about you? Do you need to schedule a rest day (or half a day or hour)? I would always say..I DON'T HAVE TIME...but one day found that if I don't schedule time or make time for rest that soon I will have that decision made for me. You body can only take so much stress (both physical and mental) before it starts to shut down. If you still have a difficult time taking some time to rest, look at it this way..If you do not take care of YOU, you will not be able to care for the others that you love . Something to ponder on the beautiful Holiday Weekend.

Our featured Blog today belongs to Marilyn Miller. Marilyn is the owner of MARMALADY's , a scrumptious tea and jam specialty online store. I LOVE her jams (her own recipes) and recommend them HIGHLY. Marilyn's blog, Hearts Delight, is beautiful, gentle and filled with inspiration .

Eight Gifts

I hope you love the follow Eight Gifts That Don't Cost A Cent as much as I do.

EIGHT GIFTS THAT DON'T COST A CENT

This simple checklist can help measure how you are nurturing your
relationships. The author of these thoughts is unknown, but deeply
appreciated.

The Gift of Listening
But you must really listen. Don't interrupt, don't daydream, don't
plan your response. Just listen.

The Gift of Affection
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and
handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for
family and friends.

The Gift of Laughter
Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say,
"I love to laugh with you."

The Gift of Solitude
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone.
Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.

The Gift of a Favor
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.

The Gift of a Written Note
It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A
brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime.

The Gift of a Compliment
A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super
job," or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.

The Gift of a Cheerful Disposition
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone.

These are eight important ways we can contribute toward whole and
healthy relationships. They cost nothing, yet they may well be the
most valuable gifts we can ever offer another.

-- Steve Goodier

Beauty Is ...

My daughters and I are huge fans of Audrey Hepburn. I am working on scrapbook albums for each of them and found this poem about beauty that Audrey wrote when she was asked to share her "beauty tips" and am currently working on pages that incorporate it. This poem was read at her funeral.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands;

one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

What a clear vision of beauty she had! Have any "beauty tips" you would like to share? I would love to hear them!

Featured Blog of the day and thoughts on HABITS

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest asset or heaviest burden.
I will push you up to success or down to disappointment.
I am at your command.
Half the things you do might just as well be turned over to me,
For I can do them quickly, correctly, and profitably.
I am easily managed; just be firm with me.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a
machine and the intelligence of a person.
You can run me for profit, or you can run me for ruin.
Show me how you want it done. Educate me. Train me.
Lead me. Reward me.
And I will then...do it automatically.
I am your servant.
Who am I?
I am a habit.

Wow!! Part of the mission of Bloom Where Your Are Planted is to help us see where we are and where we need to grow so that we can BLOOM and touch others around us. I love this reminder of how damaging poor habits can be and how rewarding good habits can be. I am making a list listing my bad habits on the left and my good ones on the right. I pray the good ones out number the bad ones. I will let you know on Wednesday. I encourage you to do the same. We can not change a bad habit until we recognize it as one.

Once Upon A Time

scan001001.jpgouat by you.
Once upon a time there lived a princess that loved tidy spaces but HATED to clean. She was also MESSY> She could start a project and create an unbelievable mess in no time flat. She loved to cook and bake but the clean up afterwards she dreaded! She so much wanted to be the Perfect Home Maker but found that she always fell short of that goal. She has accepted that about herself but continues to try to clean up her act!!

It all about

I love the line in the movie As Good As It Gets when the character played by Jack Nicholson expresses gratitude and amazement at the impact of a new friendship: "You make me want to be a better person."

Who is the person that makes you want to be a better person?

Hello Out There

I know it have been forever since I posted here and there is SO much to catch up on.

I have been busy with this Journaling blog (Your Life Spelled Out)that I am doing and with writing the book that accompanies it. I hope to have it finished and published in time by November.

You can take a look here http://yourlifespelledout.blogspot.com/

Skip and I have traveled to Asia on a special project twice already this year and I know we will have at least one more trip before the year is up. I have been sick for two and a half straight weeks. It started with E coli and now I have walking pneumonia I am so looking forward to feeling well again.

I am a also busy working on the 16th Annual Project Ed Bear dinner/auction. We had to change locations because we had over 500 people last year. What a blessing! I worked on that and have successfully found our new location.

Project Ed Bear is an all volunteer 501c3 tax exempt organization dedicated to providing comfort and needs to pediatric oncology patients through out Northeast Ohio.

I am super busy working on Camp Chops (Camp for children with cancer)which is coming up soon (June 4th through 6th). Project Ed Bear pays for the entire camp and on Saturday a group of us will set up fun stations all over camp for the children.

My grandchildren (light of my life) are growing up right before my eyes. Tyler will be 5 in July, Wyatt just turned 2 and Aubrey is 7 months old already.

Wyatt was just diagnosed with Autism so we have been rallying together and Matthew and Mindy are busy getting a therapy schedule together for him. He is my little love!

We will start things up again here with some interactive happenings. First to get you back here I will put everyone hat post a comment here through the end of this month into a drawing for a $10 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble or to Archivers (your choice). This will also apply to anyone that visits my other blog
http://yourlifespelledout.blogspot.com/ and leaves a message telling me that they arrived there from here!

Post and let me know how you have been. What you would like to see on the blog etc.

Hey...have a great day!

Until Tuesday...
Susan
