My end of year letter went out!
I have them finished and in the mail as of today. I love this tradition. It helps me stay focused on the blessings in my life and also enables me to do something that I believe should always be done. Acknowledge how important people are in my life.

Christmas 2010
The Christmas letter will be a little different this year. The focus will be on lessons learned instead of what has happened in our family this past year.
My little friend Olivia passed away on December 11th. She was a light in the lives of so many. She taught me so many things in our few years together. She taught me that
• You must love with ALL of your heart ALL of the time, even if you know you may hurt in the end.
• If you don’t like the way they cook your bacon, send it back.
• If you want to create art you should stop talking about it and just do it.
• Always think of others before yourself.
• Some rules really are there for a reason.
• No one else but you can put a voice to your opinion so voice it often.
• It’s alright to have more than one favorite color.
• You can love many people at the same time, all for different reasons.
• Some people are brought into your life for a special reason. Pay attention so you don’t miss it.
• Rocket Popsicles ROCK. Why have just one flavor when you can have three!
More than anything she taught me that one life CAN make a difference in the world. She left me with the desire to try to make a difference in someone’s life each day of 2011.
Oh and the family is beautiful and well. We wish you all a blessed Christmas surrounded by people you love.
I leave you with a favorite poem of mine. I was not surprised to find out that it was also one of Olivia’s favorites.
Hug O'War
I will not play at tug o' war.
I'd rather play at hug o' war,
Where everyone hugs
Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.

Life In The Fast Lane
I am busy writing the book, working on design team projects and have started the beginning work for the 16th annual Project Ed Bear Dinner/Auction that will be held in November.
How are you blooming? What are you working on right now? and before you sigh and say nothing..I am just a stay at home mom..let me remind you that there is no higher calling, no job more important. A bit of wisdom to share with you as a now grandmother. I drop everything for my grandchildren. I try to spend quality time with each of them each week. I didn't always do that as a mommy of four. I let everyday burdens and worries get in the way of living in the moment. I will never let that happen again.
Excited things coming up on Bloom Where You Are Planted..keep watching.
Check out my other blog and join us on a jounraling journey.

Praise
16 years ago my son was diagnosed with bone tumors. We all (including the doctors) thought he had cancer. He did not. He has a rare disease called McCune Albright syndrome.
After being on the cancer ward post surgery we both ffelt led to do do something with children suffering from cancer. His idea was to give Teddy Bears to every child (he was 11 then) and so we started Project Ed Bear. Project Ed Bear is an not for profit all volunteer organization dedicated to providing comfort and needs for pediatric oncology patients in Ohio.
To say this little idea has grown into something huge is a great understatement.
I am running the art program for Camp Chops but Project Ed Bear pays for the entire camp for all of the children. This is just one of many many things that Project Ed Bear does now. We even have college scholarships. Our accountant is working on an exact number for an appreciation event that Children's Hospital is doing for Project Ed Bear but I feel it is safe to say that over the last 16 years Project E Bear has given the children and the hospital over $350,000 in gift and services.I will let you know the actual number when i get it. Praise God!
Thanks for letting me share this very special part of my life with you!
Have a blessed day.

Sprouting
Then I slowly poured two cups of warm water on the top tray and it slowly filled each tray and left the remaining water at the bottom. I dumped that water out and repeated this step once a day.
Now we wait!
After four days the sprouts were ready to harvest.
The bean sprouts were my favorite.
Does anyone else grow their own sprouts?
Avocado , tomato and sprouts sandwiches are fabulous!

Eight Gifts
EIGHT GIFTS THAT DON'T COST A CENT
This simple checklist can help measure how you are nurturing your
relationships. The author of these thoughts is unknown, but deeply
appreciated.
The Gift of Listening
But you must really listen. Don't interrupt, don't daydream, don't
plan your response. Just listen.
The Gift of Affection
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and
handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for
family and friends.
The Gift of Laughter
Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say,
"I love to laugh with you."
The Gift of Solitude
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone.
Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.
The Gift of a Favor
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.
The Gift of a Written Note
It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A
brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime.
The Gift of a Compliment
A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super
job," or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.
The Gift of a Cheerful Disposition
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone.
These are eight important ways we can contribute toward whole and
healthy relationships. They cost nothing, yet they may well be the
most valuable gifts we can ever offer another.

Beauty Is ...
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands;
one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.
What a clear vision of beauty she had! Have any "beauty tips" you would like to share? I would love to hear them!

Featured Blog of the day and thoughts on HABITS
I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest asset or heaviest burden.
I will push you up to success or down to disappointment.
I am at your command.
Half the things you do might just as well be turned over to me,
For I can do them quickly, correctly, and profitably.
I am easily managed; just be firm with me.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a
machine and the intelligence of a person.
You can run me for profit, or you can run me for ruin.
Show me how you want it done. Educate me. Train me.
Lead me. Reward me.
And I will then...do it automatically.
I am your servant.
Who am I?
I am a habit.
Wow!! Part of the mission of Bloom Where Your Are Planted is to help us see where we are and where we need to grow so that we can BLOOM and touch others around us. I love this reminder of how damaging poor habits can be and how rewarding good habits can be. I am making a list listing my bad habits on the left and my good ones on the right. I pray the good ones out number the bad ones. I will let you know on Wednesday. I encourage you to do the same. We can not change a bad habit until we recognize it as one.

Once Upon A Time
Once upon a time there lived a princess that loved tidy spaces but HATED to clean. She was also MESSY> She could start a project and create an unbelievable mess in no time flat. She loved to cook and bake but the clean up afterwards she dreaded! She so much wanted to be the Perfect Home Maker but found that she always fell short of that goal. She has accepted that about herself but continues to try to clean up her act!!
